Disney Realm

Disney Realm is an interactive installation composed of information from digital archives such as Wikipedia, Youtube, Alamy and Code39. The work presents real events and places in connection to the Disney enterprise, making the candyland appear in an obscure and brutal reality. Its intention is to separate the enterprise of its product, but also to play with the idea of an animation becoming flesh and bone. Disney Realm was created to celebrate 100 years of Disney and its forbidden and undesired themes.

Severi Aaltonen is a contemporary artist who uses information from archives and databases as raw material for his works. In his own words, he likes to be referred to as a private detective. By looking at underlying themes, he aims to translate his interpretation of data to works in a variety of media and industrial material.
