Gradual Change: From cell to nothingness

From cell to nothingness is a short video work that reflects on the formations and change of petrol in relation to human exploitation. Petrol is a natural resource, gradually evolved during millions of years, from the extensive accumulation of marine organisms, and continuous geological processes. During the past two to three centuries, however, humans have been putting an end to its existence as they failed to spot its exponential exhaustion.

Sabina Scorțanu is a graphic designer and multimedia artist. Her work emerges from a fascination with the transient nature of objects and phenomena. These phenomena exist on the spectrum where humans shape the ecosphere (e.g. the weather on earth) and its interaction with living and non-living matter. Sabina is particularly interested in how inherited local knowledge transforms into speculative, and visionary modes of existence. These visions are explored through storytelling acts shaped by audiovisual works, radiophonic installations and digital installations. In her work, Sabina constructs tools that react to volatile environments, and reflects on visionary modes of existence in the atmosphere through storytelling acts, shaped by audiovisual works, radiophonic installations, and digital spaces.
