Under and Over
Under and Over is a performative installation that consists of a five metre long ‘table construction’, which the artist crawls, swings and twists over and under. All of this he does weightlessly, balanced by the counterweight that is attached to the metal harness that he is in.
Roman Nieuweboer is a visual and performance artist. What drives his practice is the confrontation between fun and risk, where passion or perhaps naivety seems to blur consequence. The ambiguity between danger and entertainment often divides his audience into two groups; people that laugh and people with a concerned look on their face. He knows his work came across when the work itself is fueled by feelings that would seem to be contradictory.
