How D’ya Like Your Eggs In the Morning

How D'ya Like Your Eggs In The Morning shows the artist singing with a canary whose cage door is open. The discovery of a bird trapped in a DIY store led to a work that explores a strange and intimate experience. In line with his practice, the performative video work invites viewers to question their interpretations of the peculiarities in our everyday lives.

Through paintings, performances, videos and installations, Jasper Rouwen exposes everyday raw materials to different processes, resulting in symbolic equations that agglomerate various attempts at human understanding. Through this he aims to represent what is implied but not expressed on the surface. His work invites viewers to become data-gatherers, collecting clues and information that lead to diverse conclusions. This way, Jasper aims to create an ambiguous and emotional experience, offering a non-discriminatory, abstract space that questions our reliance on structures and tools to experience, communicate and reflect upon ourselves and each other.
