The Night Tribe

Since the dawn of humankind, our culture has been shaped alongside the crackling sounds of the campfire. The Night Tribe stands as a dynamic audiovisual installation that breathes new life into these archaic rituals. It offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the ancient rites that have profoundly shaped our collective identity.

With a diameter of 10 metres, a luminous halo hovers over the spectator and demonstrates a rhythmic display of sound and light. A circular array of light acts as the stage upon which an narration of historic and contemporary elements unfold. During the stretch of this audiovisual experience, "The Night Tribe" explores universal cultural tendencies and invites the viewer to move along enduring paths through time and space.

Spacelab is an art studio that aims to express the world we live in through experiential artworks  By means of audiovisual performances, sculptures and lighting-design, Spacelab aspires to address elusive concepts such as the perception of time, the manifestation of energy and quite recently; the archaic ritual that celebrates the night. In all Spacelab’s works, light characteristics are used as a tool for expression in order that light itself can become a narrator. By all means, Spacelab is there to build on associations and connections that are hidden or regularly overlooked.
