Can emptiness take on a tangible form? Solid Voids is an installation that explores the boundary between what is real and what we perceive. It combines four rotating constructions that, when stationary, are merely metal structures. But once set in motion, the empty space transforms into a canvas. The work plays with the imperfections of our own eyes. Because our retinas process the world with a slight delay, our brains bridge the gaps in time. In that brief pause between perception and reality, the image manifests itself. The emptiness 'the void' is filled by the memory of light.
About the artist
Robin Beekman is a contemporary artist fascinated by the limits of human perception. His work explores the boundary between physical reality and subjective vision, creating temporary realities in which you are compelled not just to look, but to question the act of looking itself. Reflective, immersive experiences that blur the lines between what is real and what is perceived. Drawing on a background in media technology, his installations challenge sensory logic and actively engage with their environment. Sometimes his work merges seamlessly with the existing architecture; at other times, it claims an autonomous space in the darkness.
