Today’s ‘personal’ computers are anything but personal: their inner workings are hidden, complex, and meant only to solve problems. Ietsnut’s M-PC proposes an alternative. This handmade computer uses simple, visible 1970s technology you can see, learn from, and connect with. Every part is physically and conceptually transparent. The machine also behaves like a living body whose ‘health’ you can influence by adjusting various inputs such as sleep and exercise, challenging you to try to improve its wellbeing by changing and balancing factors.

About the artist

Ietsnut is a technical designer and multidisciplinary artist who transforms the hidden silicon structures of modern electronics into sculptural, expressive works, showing that computers can exist beyond the cliché black box. Driven by frustration with modern technology, often unreliable and stripped of any monumental or theatrical qualities, he designs interfaces that uncover the hidden potential of the mundane, creating tools and connections that are practical, playful, or delightfully absurd.
