Isa Broodman
The Human Imposter is a mixed-media installation exploring the tension between internal experience and outward perception. Originating as the artist’s attempt to “unmask” her own inner imposter, it evolved into a reflection on performance, pressure, and adaptation. The process of making the masks was an act of control and surrender, a thin balance between restriction and release. Through sculpture, sound, and space the work examines how human identity is shaped by external expectations and the systems and spaces we move through, inviting you to shift position and experience your own presence in between seeing and being seen.
About the artist
In her work, Isa Broodman connects inner experience with the outer world, blending intuition and direction. Through form, space, and rhythm, she explores how people and objects gain meaning through context and how identity shifts with the environment. Working across installation, sculpture, video, and sound, her practice investigates transformation, performance, self-perception, and social-emotional navigation. Inspired by human behavior, Isa uses art to explore presence, connection, and curiosity, understanding how people move through spaces physically and emotionally.
“I think art should be something anyone can encounter and find their own meaning in and I hope my work can offer that kind of space”.
