Ariadne Sergoulopoulou-Papageraki
Discover resurfacing forms of existence in the installation Swelling Matter, where the post-apocalyptic ruins of a corporate office are transformed into a hybrid dreamscape. As past human-centric structures crumble, new possibilities arise. Dwelling in this moment of collapse, it questions what happens when systems exhaust themselves. When architecture outlives its purpose. Echoing Jesse Darling, it dares you to “dream the garden in the ruin”.
About the artist
Ariadne’s practice revolves around transformation, decay, and shifting ideas of what is considered as alive or valuable. Drawn to sites where human systems have failed or been abandoned, like post industrial ruins, she observes the life that lingers or resurfaces. This is evident in her returning use of exhausted materials, as well as moving images as a way to trace temporal and material shifts. Through this she explores how hybrid forms emerge, and how non-human forces help shape the world beyond human dominance.
